Baptism Holy Baptism is a Covenant between an individual and God. It is God’s word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love.
Midway welcomes your inquiry about the Sacrament of Baptism and we look forward to assisting your family with planning this special day. It is our desire to make your baptism a most memorable occasion.
Persons of all ages can be baptized at Midway. We baptize by sprinkling Holy Water and make the sign of the cross on the forehead to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit. The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms from other faiths and churches and therefore does not “re-baptize”.
Confirmation Confirmation is the time when a personal decision is made to confirm the vows of our baptism. At Midway United Methodist Church, this happens as a groups of students in grades 7th - 12th join together for a semester of exploring who Christ is, what it means to know Him through a lifelong relationship, and how we follow Him as United Methodists. The Confirmation then takes place in a ceremony of students publicly declaring their commitment to Christ and the desire to become full adult members of our church family.
