Questions About Our Worship & Faith

Do I have to be a member of Midway to take Communion?
Everyone is welcome at the communion table, whether members of Midway UMC, kids or adults.

What should I wear to church?
Feel free to wear whatever clothes make you feel most comfortable. You will  see men in suits and ties as well as casual sports shirts. We care more  that you’re here, than what you wear.

How long are services?
The services last about an hour.

What are your services like?
Midway’s services focus mostly on worship and preaching. We’ll share some  announcements during the morning, express our hearts to God through  music, and hear a teaching about God’s word. If you need personal  prayer, our altar is always available after any service.

Where do my children go during the service?
All children can attend the various services with their parents, but our Children’s Ministry provides a children's church for children up to seven years old. This allows you to get the most  from your experience at Midway while your child has a great time in a  safe, friendly kid-centered environment.  Children stay with their  parent until Children's Moment and then taken to children's church for  the remainder of the service. If you have a teenager, they are invited  to attend the service with you. Many of our youth often sit together and would welcome having your teenager join them.

When do I need to arrive?
Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of Worship.

Will I have to say anything, sign anything, or be singled out?
Rest assured that you won’t be put on the spot, singled-out, or embarrassed. Though we do receive an offering, we don’t want anyone to feel  obligated to give. We do like to collect some basic information from  people in our guest registry, but if you’d prefer not to, that’s all  right with us.

What kind of church are you?
Midway is a United Methodist Church. We have roots going back almost 150 years in the Methodist heritage, and hold it as an important element of our history. Midway is a community church which serves Douglasville, Georgia and the surrounding community.

What do Methodists believe?
United Methodists profess the historic Christian faith. We encourage you to read more at the web site of the United Methodist Church - or to attend our worship services.

What if I have not been baptized?
If you have not been baptized, but would like to join Midway, we’d love to help you take this important step. If you believe in Jesus Christ and  accept Him as your Savior, we invite you to be part of a brief ceremony  of this outward symbol of God’s inward love for us.
