MCA offers a variety of preschool classes to meet the academic and social needs of the children in the community. MCA uses the Douglas County cutoff date. To enroll in a class, the child must be the appropriate age by September 1st of that year ( i.e. to enroll in a 3 year old class, the child must be three by September 1st).
Two Year Olds
The emphasis of the curriculum is skill development, fine motor skill development and color and shape recognition. There is limited introduction to letters and numbers. A nursery rhyme curriculum is used to teach various elements of the curriculum. Units of study include areas of social studies, science, and literature.
Three Year Olds
The emphasis of the curriculum is introduction to letter and number recognition, review of colors and shapes, social skill development and fine motor skill development. Units of study include areas of science, social studies and literature. The five day class receives weekly computer instruction and monthly enrichment instruction in literature and listening skills.
Four Year Olds
The emphasis of the curriculum is letters, numbers, writing, fine motor skill development, social skill development and overall preparation for Kindergarten. Units of study include areas of science, social studies, and literature. All classes have separate instruction time for Computers each week. All classes have enrichment teachers either weekly or monthly for additional instruction in literature, math skills building, listening skills and science. Field trips are included to enhance current and past units of study.
